Picture it: Your drawer is perfectly arranged just the way you like it with your favorite drawer organizers. Everything is where it should be, you slide it close, and CLUNK! The all-too-familiar sound of each trinket, tool, and gadget crashing into one another when the organizers slide together. If your storage methods aren’t flush to your drawer, you probably know this drawer disaster all too well. Until now, that is. 

If you didn’t remember to measure the inside of your drawers — or use this smart viral paper trick — before you bought your drawer organizers, the odds are good they slide around at least a little bit. This is why when I saw this brilliant tip on TikTok, I knew I had to share it.

Organizational TikToker Jill Koch of @JillComesClean shared the smartest trick for those pesky dividers, organizers, and items that slide around inside of your drawers: Secure them to the bottom of the drawer with a little bit of putty. That’s all it takes!

Just like one of the best gallery wall tricks, do like museum curators and make sure nothing moves an inch when you open and close your drawers with a little sticky magic. If you use the smallest amount of museum putty (or clear waterproof sticky dots) at the center or corners of the bottoms of your drawer’s contents, they’ll stay put as long as the putty’s in place. 

One of the best parts of this simple hack is that it’s totally invisible — you can opt for clear adhesives if your organizers are see-through, or you can go with the neutral-colored putty because no one will be able to see it from above.
