Contrary to what the rise of popular online aesthetics like “fairycore” and “fairy grunge” might suggest, building fairy houses and gardens is nothing new. For years, children and adults alike have compiled dollhouse-sized miniature homes and local garden elements like flowers, twigs, and moss to add a whimsical, otherworldly touch to their homes.

Recently, one TikToker combined this trend with seasonal decor, building gorgeous viral pumpkin fairy homes just in time for autumn.

Content creator Gina (@moonwatermami) recently went viral on the video-sharing app for demonstrating how she transformed a hollowed-out pumpkin into a home fit for a fairy. In her video, Gina pans around her pumpkin, which features a makeshift “door” opening, as well as several other holes surrounding the pumpkin that are meant to stand in for windows.

“This is your sign to make a fairy pumpkin house before the end of October,” the video’s text reads.

Gina decorated each “window” with locally sourced greenery, including leaves, tiny flower clusters, and even a pair of sticks that are glued on to create a make-shift windowpane. As a finishing touch, she placed a tiny tea candle inside the pumpkin.

As Gina explains in the caption: “I didn’t have all of the supplies I wanted, I just foraged in the yard.”

Since she shared her TikTok on October 15, the video has received over 177,000 likes and 769,000 views.

“I want to go to there,” one commenter joked, while another wrote: “I absolutely love this, I’m gonna make a fairy house out of stuff so I can keep it on my porch.”

Other viewers suggested grabbing a faux pumpkin from the store and making a fairy pumpkin house that lasts year after year.

As one TikToker pointed out: “You can get craft pumpkins at Michael’s and make decorations to pull out every year.”
