As the season’s first chill fills the air, I find myself itching to create cozy corners that celebrate all things autumn. There’s nothing more welcoming than a rustic tablescape surrounded by pumpkins and mums, and that’s exactly what inspired my latest outdoor oasis. With the new John Derian Thanksgiving Collection now available at Target, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to mix these vintage-inspired pieces among an abundance of natural elements. A stack of pumpkins & cabbage, bundled corn stalks and arrangements mums, what more do you need? As much as I’ve been loving putting together all these cozy autumnal displays outside, I can’t help but feel a tug of sadness each time I catch a glimpse at all of the colorful leaves. It’s like Mother Nature’s subtle reminder that the seasons just keep on changing whether we’re ready for them to or not. This year especially, it feels like summer slipped through our fingers before we could squeeze in all those lazy evenings around the fire pit.
But you know what they say – when one season ends, another begins. And this fall, I’m determined to make the most of these crisper days however I can. Even if that means throwing together a bonfire on a random Monday night just because! So after spending the afternoon styling up my latest harvest-inspired tablescape using all my favorite pieces from the new John Derian x Target line, I roped the whole fam into a snack before dinner, a little fire and S’more appetizers.
And you guys, it was just what this season needed. We laughed and played like it was the first day of summer break all over again. And for a little while, we forgot all about everything waiting on our to-do lists and just savored being together in the present moment. Nights like these are what make the changing of seasons bearable, and keep the cozy vibes flowing even after summer officially says goodbye. Here’s to making more memories like this one in the moments we least expect!
